Captain John Morin
Looking back at growing up on the lakes and coastal waters of New England, I see the bearing it has on my current marine vocation of charter boat business owner, boat broker and ship service agent. My early experiences on lakes in small boats taught me basic boat handling skills and a love for the water. For the first time early on I experienced a freedom that comes from “pushing off” the dock.

I primarily spent the next seventeen years working in a third generation, family owned and operated, large service business. We worked hard developing uncompromising customer service principles and maintaining the most diverse customer base in the industry in New England. I carry these values into my current work. I then started working for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, taking on logistic site manager and field instructor. This experience gave me solid sea skills such as a keen weather eye, patience, and an understanding of the logistics involved in the safe operation of vessels on the water.

Providing transport and logistical support services to the US Navy, US NOAH Weather, educational institutions, building contractors, tour groups, and social groups are a sampling of our current work.

I broker boats of all types for Wilbur Yachts Brokerage and reside on the mid-coast of Maine with my family.

Captain Sue Conover
My time on the water began at an early age, sailing small boats on the coast of Maine. As a child I took sailing lessons at a local sailing center, eventually teaching sailing there as a teenager. My family frequently went “cruising” on our 30’ sailboat during the summer months, often times being the only boat sailing across Penobscot Bay. My family also took over the role of caretakers for a lighthouse in midcoast Maine, which we continue to manage 30 years later.

In my early twenties I started work for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School. I worked as a field instructor, course director and staffing coordinator. My current work ethic and judgment on boats were formed in these years of problem solving, managing marine equipment and instructors, and working side-by-side with highly motivated and skilled mariners.

Today I spend most of my time on or near the waters of Penobscot Bay. My children are rapidly becoming daring but mindful sailors. We continue to enjoy the lighthouse duties with multi generational working hands.

I recommend them. No reservation. Equinox Island Transit has transported my construction crews and materials daily, safely, dependably and consistently on time.

Equinox is not just a transportation service. They’re tuned in. They understand the ebb and flow of island communities.
Eric Hopkins, Artist, North Haven, ME

We had a humongous circle of all my birthday party friends on the deck of Equinox. We explored an island, collected shells, swam and had a cool ride on a darn pretty boat.
